The new Dominican airline Arajet announced the opening of a new route from Santo Domingo to the new Mexico City International Airport (AIFA) starting next September 15, with an itinerary that will have three frequencies per week.

In a statement, the airline also announced flights to Cancun and Monterrey, with prices starting at $55 one way and $149 round trip, including taxes, which will open at the end of next month.

The Dominican Republic will be the third international route for AIFA, which also has a connection to Caracas, operated by Conviasa, and which will soon have a Copa Airlines flight to Panama.

“Starting in September, we will begin the journey to convert Las Américas International Airport into the new Caribbean Air Hub , and connect the continent at the lowest cost, with world-class services, new aircraft and the most efficient on the market,” said Víctor Pacheco. , president of Arajet, quoted in a statement.

The airline will also start operations the same month in Barranquilla, Cali and Cartagena, in Colombia; Quito and Guayaquil, in Ecuador; Lima, in Peru; Guatemala City in Guatemala; San Salvador, in El Salvador and San Martin, Aruba and Curaçao in the Caribbean.

For October, the cities of Toronto and Montreal, in Canada; Medellin and Bogota, in Colombia; San Jose in Costa Rica, and Kingston, Jamaica; with which it will establish a route network of 20 destinations in 12 countries in its first three months of operations.

Regarding flights to the United States, the airline said it is working to get permits to start services “as soon as possible.”

The new airline will start operations with five Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft, and expects to move an estimated 7 million passengers per year for its fifth year.
