The Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) would have a programmable expense of 836,230,355 pesos for fiscal year 2023 , 99% higher than the 419,449,081 pesos approved for this year, which only contemplated the operation from its inauguration, on March 21 .

52% of the resources will go to the category of personal services , equivalent to 436,230,355 pesos, while 48% of the resources will go to cover current operating expenses , according to the 2023 Expenditure Budget Project (PPEF) sent to the Chamber of Deputies.

“The Sedena contributes to the activities carried out for the organization and administration of the company that manages the Felipe Ángeles International Airport and contributes in support of public security activities and the fight against crime in the country,” says the project.

The PPEF also contemplates an amount of 1,408,840,418 pesos for the expansion of the Suburban Train that will connect the Lechería station to the AIFA, with a length of 23 kilometers of double electrified track, three elevated viaducts, nine vehicular crossings, two railway bridges over the Grand Canal , 10 pedestrian crossings and four intermediate stations, of which two more are in a second stage.

For the loading tracks of the work, the construction of a freight rail yard, the reconfiguration of the layout of the current tracks in the area of the yards in Lechería, spurs, hillsides and a pair of trunk tracks are considered.

According to AIFA projections, with the addition of 21 new routes, it is expected to have between 64 and 66 daily flights from September, and increase the current average of 1,200 daily passengers to just over 5,000.

“By the end of the year, we hope that it can increase to between 7,000 and 8,000 daily passengers,” Isidoro Pastor, general director of AIFA, told Expansión in an interview last June.
