The oldest of the Espargaró managed to stop the time in 1.38.244 and recover the first position of the FP2 that he had led until his own teammate, Maverick Viñales, provisionally overtook him with 17 minutes to go with a time of 1.38 .454 which in the end was enough for him to be second and for the two Aprilias to lead the last free session of the weekend.

Behind them were Jack Miller, Fabio Quartararo and Brad Binder, despite the KTM man breaking one of his KTM’s engines. Alex Rins finished sixth ahead of Joan Mir, so the two Suzukis will be in Q2, as will Jorge Martín and Johann Zarco, the Pramac Ducati, with Luca Marini closing, in the last breath the top 10 and the list of drivers who will play it directly in Q2.

Left out were Miguel Oliveira, winner of the last race, Pecco Bagnaia and Pol Espargaró, together with all the Hondas that could not improve the times of the morning and will have to go through Q1.

The first part of the session, extended to 60 minutes exceptionally due to the suspension of Friday’s session, was used by the drivers to prepare for Sunday’s race and find the set-up and pace. In that part, the two Aprilias especially shone, with Aleix leading and, momentarily, also Maverick Viñales, both at the head of the times until the end of the session, practically. While riders who had been fast in the morning, such as Takaaki Nakagami or Pol Espargaró lost their place in the top 10, with the rider from Granollers crashing 37′ from the end at Turn 1, his first crash of the season. Rookies Remy Gardner also crashed in the same turn 1 at the beginning of practice, and Darryn Binder in the final part of the session, as well as Marco Bezzecchi with the clock to zero also in the first corner.

The last ten minutes the times began to drop and the top ten were already the fastest of the day, waiting for a final attack with new soft rear rubber to attack the times and determine the ten drivers who qualify directly for Q2.
