In November 2007 Ubisoft rang the bell . That year we heard the name Assassin’s Creed for the first time and we met the mysterious man with a blade in his arm and his face hidden under a hood . That year the world of videogames welcomed one of the sagas that, despite having its ups and downs, has become one of the most important, successful and prolific of the decade.
The plot of these games centered on the Brotherhood of the Assassins and the Order of the Templars , two secret organizations faced since time immemorial with completely opposite world views (free will or order and control). The world of the Animus, a simulation based on the genetic past of a subject, allowed us to travel to different times in the history of humanity, so each game was remodeled from head to toe and introduced us to an environment different from the one we had known. in the previous. The presence of prominent historical figures and the careful recreation that was made in buildings, landscapes, clothing, weapons and customs had to be added another series of characteristics that have become essential: a wide open world to explore, collectibles, a combination of stealth and combat mechanics based on blocking or using parkour to move around the stage .
And just as we jumped from time to time, each game made us change the protagonist (except in the case of Ezio, who we enjoyed in three different games). The playable characters of Assassin’s Creed used to take us on his particular ‘hero’s journey’ in which we saw how his destiny was revealed and he had to face the evils and dangers that the world had prepared for him. Throughout the various installments we have seen struggles for honor, revenge, careless opportunism, social struggles and even questioning of the assassins’ own code, which in general were presented to us as pure beings of light. Beyond appearance and story, Ubisoft has managed to give each of its protagonists a unique and individual personality .
In this gallery we wanted to collect the great assassins of the franchise (focusing on the main installments only) and rate them according to our experience with them . We must emphasize that we have tried to focus exclusively on the construction of the character and not on how good or bad the game was, although sometimes it was difficult to separate the two.
