In Berlin, a rental car fled from the police and caused an accident. Because the car was supposed to have raced before, there is now a demand for an upper limit on horsepower for young rental car drivers.

Berlin (dpa) – In a chase between a rental car and the police, two serious traffic accidents occurred in Berlin-Charlottenburg. According to the Berlin fire brigade, five people were injured, four of whom were taken to a hospital.

According to initial findings, the car was traveling at too high speed on the Kurfürstendamm in the direction of Breitscheidplatz on Saturday evening shortly after 11 p.m., as the police announced. The 23-year-old driver ignored the stopping signals from the officers and turned off. A patrol car followed him. When the 23-year-old lost control, the two cars collided.

The man tried to escape on foot, but the officers brought him back to the scene of the accident. There he passed out and was taken to a hospital.

Inmates of the polluter car refused treatment

A 22-year-old passenger and two women, 25 and 26 years old, were still sitting in the car. All were under the impression of the experiences, but refused treatment. The driver of the police car suffered bruises on her arm and shoulder. She and her co-driver, who was under the impression of the experiences, were cared for in a clinic.

At the same time, there was an accident with another police car that had been called for support by radio. He was reported to have crashed into a car at an intersection. The police car turned 180 degrees and crashed into a traffic light.

The policeman behind the wheel complained of neck pain and his passenger’s arm was injured. Both came to a hospital. The 23-year-old driver of the other car also had a pain in his neck – he was treated on site. His passenger was unharmed.

According to the police location service, the speeder had been in a rental car. After the chase, the police union (GdP) called for stricter rules for rental car companies. There is also a need for an upper limit for young drivers and a special police force to deal with the problem intensively. Serious accidents with razors occur time and again in downtown Berlin.
