Those interested can now place orders for the Cupra Formentor, the first model 100% developed by the Seat sub-brand. It is a vehicle created in Spain and manufactured at the Martorell plant , which makes it a made in Spain production.
Not only that, its launch has garnered all the attention that could be expected. Everything that is related to the Formentor is news, so its arrival at the dealerships could not be different. The first version available will be the one with the 2.0 TSI 310 hp engine, together with the 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and 4Drive all-wheel drive. Its starting price is 46,920 euros , without discounts or promotions, and will arrive during the last quarter of 2020.
Little by little, the Formentor range will be completed with the rest of the engines, among which is the PHEV or plug-in hybrid version. In that case, the system uses a 150 hp 1.4 TSI block together with an 85 kW (115 hp) electric motor. Both will offer a combined power of 245 hp , with a maximum torque of 400 Nm and an electric range of up to 60 kilometers (WLTP cycle) thanks to the 13 kWh battery capacity.
A growing family
The first Cupra specific model is right around the corner. A model that has managed to show the DNA of a brand with its own character like never before. A firm with just two years of life and that not long ago brought together all its available models for the first time: León 5p, León Sportstourer, Ateca and Formentor. The future el-Born was not present, and it will soon become Cupra’s first 100% electric model.
They all share some parameters, such as the incorporation of the most advanced chassis and steering technologies. These include the DSG automatic transmission with “shift-by-wire” cable connections as standard on the Formentor and Cupra models. They also integrate the Progressive Steering system to optimize the steering wheel’s response to the driving situation. You can not miss the Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), which modifies the setting of the suspensions, in addition to the differential lock and the Brembo braking equipment (optional).

Despite having more details in common, such as the sports bucket seats or the Full LED headlights with dynamic rear indicators, each model has its buyer. El Formentor is situated halfway between an Ateca and a León. As we told you in the article about its launch, its dimensions are 4.45 meters long by 1.83 m wide and 1.51 m high, with a wheelbase of 2.68 meters. It is longer than an Ateca but narrower and much lower. Its trunk has a load capacity of 450 liters compared to 380 liters for the León and 510 for the Ateca .
The model with the name of the Majorcan cape will take a walk at the end of 2020 with some of the options available in its color palette: White, Urban Silver, Midnight Black, Magnetic Gray, Desire Red and Graphene Gray. With special mention to the Dark Campouflage, Magnetic Gray Matte and Petrol Matte Blue shades. This last color is reserved for the launch edition called Launch Edition and incorporates the bucket seats with Matte Petrol Blue leather, Brembo brakes, 10-inch Copper-colored alloy wheels, Beats audio system and panoramic roof.
Prices of the new Cupra Formentor
The Cupra Formentor available today is the one that mounts the 2.0 turbocharged gasoline block, which yields 310 hp of power and 400 Nm of maximum torque . Thanks to the intelligent 4Drive traction, driving the Formentor will be a breeze. Technology not only improves the safety of cars, but also their driving and Cupra is a great example. All this with a combined consumption between 8.2 and 9 l / 100 km according to the WLTP cycle.
It arrives with the new 12-inch infotainment screen, along with the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit . This model incorporates the natural voice recognition system that the new León already mounts or that we have been able to test in the Ateca 2020. Just say “Hello, Hello” and it will be activated. It is worth highlighting the technological arsenal that the Formentor incorporates in the driving assistants section, which allow it to reach level 2 of autonomous driving . Also available (optionally) is the integrated SIM card that will make online services on board a reality and remote connectivity with the car.
For the normal model, the Formentor 2.0 TSI 310 CV DSG-7 4Drive, the starting price is 46,920 euros . If you opt for the Petrol Mate Blue Launch Edition , its price goes up to 55,403 euros.
