The title couldn’t be more apt. 2005 really changed the lives of many of us, in that season in which Fernando Alonso definitively put Spain in the golden books of F1 history, culminating a brilliant year with his first championship.
Now, at the gates of another World Cup that seems exciting, that of 2022, DAZN has wanted to remember with a very special documentary everything that was experienced 17 years ago in the highest category, seen from that time and also from today.
41 minutes of pure enjoyment that starts with the start of the race in which Alonso was crowned, in that 2005 Brazilian GP at Interlagos.
The archive images (which once again bring out laughter and nostalgia) are commented on by Pedro de la Rosa and Antonio Lobato , current DAZN commentators. The second accompanied Alonso during those golden years, and explains what was experienced at every moment.
Lobato remembers what it was like to share so many moments with the brilliant Asturian pilot, in many cases funny during interviews or advertising commitments. For his part, Pedro de la Rosa focuses on what came after that glorious September 2005, the signing of Alonso by McLaren, in which the then reserve driver had a lot to do.
And it is that Ron Dennis , who wanted Alonso for 2007 (he had a contract with Renault for 2006, the year in which he would win his second crown), asked De la Rosa to intercede, although at first it was found that the Spaniard did not He had his compatriot’s phone number.
