The electricity tariff establishes valley bands to charge cars

If you have turned on the television these days you will have received various impacts that inform you of a change in the electricity bill . That’s right, the Government has launched, from June 1, 2021, a new electricity tariff called 2.0TD. The summary of this change is that the price of electricity rises by up to 41% at peak hours , from 10 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon and from 6 in the afternoon to 10 at night. The cost in this band becomes 0.24 euros per kWh , being 0.11 euros per kWh for off-peak hours and 0.15 euros for flat hours . It is the first of the alternatives in which we must look if we have an electric car, which we will connect to our Wallbox device and manage our smartphone through an application.

The Government’s objective is to shift energy consumption to the least recurring hours, as long as it is possible for us. It will do so by substantially benefiting users who use the range from 12 at night to 8 in the morning , the so -called off-peak hours , to recharge their devices. Of course, we will not get the washing machines from midnight, but we can take advantage of it to turn on the application of our mobile. An app that is already common in electric cars and that gives us access to the device in our garage to manage charging times .

What has changed on our bill?

Yes, the cost of the kWh has changed, but also the way we read our bills. From now on there is a single network access toll , a concept that accounts for almost 42% of our bill and which was previously divided into 6 options. However, the most important thing is the price that the electricity will have depending on the hours of Punta, Llano and Valle .

The rush hours are from 10 in the morning to two in the afternoon , to return at six in the afternoon until 10 at night . It is easy to do the calculation and see that, at first, it will directly affect the moments that we usually use the most and, therefore, our pocket will suffer. Plain hours are from eight in the morning to 10, from two in the morning to six in the afternoon and from 10 to 12 at night , at which time we will take the opportunity to put dishwashers, washing machines, dryers and the rest of the household appliances. more consumption.

The Valle time is conceived, without a doubt, to encourage the use of the electric car , or rather to avoid being harmed by it. They take place between 12 at night and eight in the morning, but also throughout the weekend . Yet another reason to leave the laundry and cleaning the house for your holidays.

In addition, you can hire two different power sections for the Valley and Peak hours. In this way, you can increase consumption at night, at which time it will be cheaper without affecting the rest of the day, in order to get a faster charge and complete the batteries in a matter of a few hours.

How do we take advantage of this change?

As soon as we buy an electric vehicle, we must hire a light rate with hourly discrimination , key to not increase our spending in a useless way. If you do not have it, you may already be calling your company to negotiate that detail and benefit from a power increase during off-peak hours . You will have one year to modify this detail (paying) and make it effective, leaving a higher contracted power only for interesting hours and lower in expensive hours.

During our day to day we will be affected by the increase in the price of electricity, something that as owners of an electric vehicle we will compensate when charging the car. Now we have more hours of the Valle strip (it goes from 6 to 8 hours) and the new flat strip is decent enough to plug in a plug-in hybrid while we eat or when we get home.
