At the beginning of the year there is April weather in Germany. It becomes volatile and rather mild.

Offenbach – Inconsistent and mild weather with rain and thunderstorms determines the weather in Germany in the first week of January, according to the German Weather Service (DWD).

All in all, it will be wintry in the mountainous region, while at lower altitudes, wet and cold weather can be expected. A weather division of Germany is responsible for the April weather at the beginning of the year, with a low in the north and a high in the south of Europe.

There can be thunderstorms

In the night to Monday there are individual thunderstorms with stormy winds, especially in the west. Heavy to hurricane-like gusts can then be expected on the country’s mountain peaks. The week then starts on Monday with rain showers that spread across the entire country. Thunderstorms can also develop in the mild air. Especially on the coasts and in the mountains, squalls and heavy storms at night are to be expected.

On Tuesday it will remain cloudy and rainy, during the course of the day the weather will loosen up, especially in the west. South of the Danube, the rain subsides and there are even a few rays of sunshine. On the North Sea and in southern Germany, however, stormy to hurricane-like gusts are to be expected again, and even severe storms at night. The Germans also have to be prepared for slipperiness.

While mild air up to and including Tuesday produces comparable weather to April, polar air will be mixed again from Wednesday, as the DWD announced. In the northern half of the country, the rain turns into snow and sleet showers and thunderstorms occur in the North Sea, while the rain subsides in the south. Heavy storms are to be expected again in the mountains and at the seaside. During the night there is snow across the country. dpa
