2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the World Happiness Report, which uses global survey data to extract insights about how people evaluate their own lives in more than 150 countries around the world.
The World Happiness Report 2022 shines a bright light in dark times when not only is the pandemic still with us, but a new war has risen at the hands of Russia, or rather Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“The pandemic brought not only pain and suffering, but also an increase in social support and benevolence. As we fight the evils of disease and war, it is essential to remember the universal desire for happiness and the ability of people to support each other in times of great need .
Although the planet has endured much in the last two years, the ‘World Happiness Report’ revealed something unexpected on its tenth anniversary of publication. The big surprise was that globally, in an uncoordinated way, there have been very large increases in all three forms of benevolence asked about in the Gallup World Poll. For example, there have been significant increases in donating to charity, helping strangers, and volunteering.
