The Italian oil company ENI will divest itself of its share of capital in the Blue Stream gas pipeline that it controls in equal parts with the Russian Gazprom, joining similar measures adopted by other companies after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a company spokesman informed Tuesday. the AFP agency.

"Eni intends to sell its part" in the gas pipeline that carries fuel from Russia to Turkey through the Black Sea, the spokesman said.

ENI's announcement is added to that of the oil companies Shell and BP, which in recent days announced that they would withdraw their investments in Russia.

ENI and Russia's Gazprom have been partners in this project since 1999, when they formed the Blue Stream Pipeline BV joint venture, which was registered in the Netherlands in November of that year. Four years later, in 2003, the gas pipeline, which measures 1,213 kilometers, began operations.
