The two-time champion celebrated the end of the year on top of a go-kart, demonstrating his insatiable hunger for victory, training harder than ever and defending the motto ‘age is just a number’.
A few weeks ago he said that he could not keep the same training methods as when he started in the highest category of motorsports, and acknowledged that, at 40 years old, he must take care of his diet and the hours of physical exercise.
“When you’re old enough, it’s hard. The first races were hard for me,” said the Spaniard. “The speed at which things happen, the technical side of F1, because in other categories, the cars are much more basic. In F1 you have a lot of electronics, aerodynamics, another language with the team, and that cost me a bit. “.
“I don’t follow a strict diet, but you have to be careful. Your body doesn’t respond the same to 20 as it does to 40,” Alonso said.
