George. It is the name given to an American lobster caught off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada, in December 2008. It was then estimated to be around 140 years old. It was returned to the sea shortly after.

Adwaita. This Aldabra tortoise, Geochelone gigantea , is believed to have been born around 1750. Until his death in 2006 – he was about 255 years old – he was the most famous inhabitant of the Alipore Zoo in India.

Ming. This is how an Icelandic clam, Arctica islandica , found in 2007 was named. Researchers at Bangor University in Wales estimated that it had lived for 507 years.

Corals A team of researchers from different institutions in the US determined that some specimens of black coral of the genus Leiopathes that develop near the coast of Hawaii have lived more than 4,260 years. Others, of the genus Gerardia , known as golden corals, are almost 2,750 years old.

Turritopsis nutricula. After reaching sexual maturity, these jellyfish are able to revert to their polyp state in a cycle that can be repeated indefinitely, giving them a certain form of immortality.
