Rafael Nadal was proclaimed champion of the Australian Open after defeating Daniil Medvedev in a final that became a true thriller lasting up to five hours and 24 minutes. Rafa got up after two sets against and culminated the comeback with a point that makes him the best tennis player in history and stands in the annals of his immaculate professional career.
Nadal , as he had done so many times throughout the match, cut off Medvedev 's rhythm after a great serve and bravely climbed into the net to end the match. His volley was firm and despite the Russian's run, it became the last optimal shot of the match, allowing him to stop, drop his racket and check that he had achieved it. The Australian Open was already his and the band of the best tennis player of all time, too.
