After each Grand Prix of the 2022 season, Motorsport.com brings you a compilation of the most important statistics. These are the figures and outstanding data that the Miami GP has left us, the fifth round of the season.

The grand prix and the drivers

– This was the first Miami Grand Prix, making it the 52nd different GP in F1 history.

– The Miami International Autodrome has hosted a Formula 1 World Championship event for the first time in its history. It has become the 76th different circuit that has been part of the category since 1950.

– It is the 11th circuit in the United States to host a grand prix and joins Indianapolis, Sebring, Riverside, Watkins Glen, Long Beach, Caesars Palace (Las Vegas), Detroit, Dallas, Phoenix and Austin. It is the record for a single country, well ahead of France (7 circuits) and Spain (6).

– Fernando Alonso made his 339th start in F1, which places him 11 short of the record for most Grand Prix races held which, for the time being, is still held by Kimi Raikkonen (350).

The classification

– Charles Leclerc took his 12th career pole, equaling Gerhard Berger and David Coulthard.

– This is the 233rd pole position for the Ferrari team and the 234th for a Scuderia engine.

– Carlos Sainz was second on the grid. He started from the front row for the second time in his career and the first in 2022.

– You have to go back to the 2019 Mexican GP to see a front row dyed in Ferrari red. This is the 81st double for the Scuderia, one less than the all-time record, which belongs to Mercedes (82).

– Valtteri Bottas, fifth on the grid, gave Alfa Romeo its best starting position since the 2019 German GP with Kimi Raikkonen.

– Sixth on the grid, Lewis Hamilton had never been outside the top five in qualifying held in the United States since the start of his career in the 2007 season.

The race

– Max Verstappen took his 23rd victory in Formula 1, equaling Nelson Piquet and Nico Rosberg.

– This is Red Bull’s 78th victory as a manufacturer and third as an engine manufacturer.

– This is the second time Verstappen has won a GP at a circuit he is visiting for the first time in F1, after taking victory at Zandvoort last year.

– Max Verstappen set his 18th fastest lap of the race, equaling David Coulthard.

– The Dutchman got his 63rd podium in F1 and stands alone in 10th place in the history of the category.

– Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz stood on the podium for the 17th time (as many as Alberto Ascari, Keke Rosberg and Sergio Pérez) and for the 9th time (also including Jean Behra, Elio de Angelis and Martin Brundle) respectively in their Formula 1 careers.

– Fifth in the final standings, George Russell remains the only driver to have finished in the top five in every grand prix this season.

– Sixth, Lewis Hamilton had never finished a race in the United States outside the top four.

– Esteban Ocon finished eighth after starting 20th on Sunday, continuing his streak of finishing ahead of his teammate this season.

– Lando Norris’ streak of 15 consecutive finishes came to an end with his retirement following a collision with Pierre Gasly. The driver with the longest current streak is Charles Leclerc, with 16.
