– Pecco Bagnaia achieved his seventh victory of the season at the Malaysian Grand Prix, his eleventh in MotoGP and his 21st in all the categories of the motorcycling world championship.
– The Italian driver continues to dominate the season with seven wins from 19 races (the same as Bastianini and Quartararo combined), a total of ten podiums and five pole positions.
– And what about Ducati? It was the twelfth win of the campaign for the manufacturer and its fifth one-two so far this year, as Enea Bastianini finished second behind Bagnaia.
– More generally, since the Barcelona race in June, Ducati has consistently placed two riders on the podium, with the exception of the Japanese GP.
– This is the sixth time that Ducati has won at Sepang, equaling Yamaha in the premier class. Honda still have the best record there, with a total of seven wins.
– Bagnaia won on Sunday starting from ninth place. In the 20 years that MotoGP has been racing at Sepang, no one has ever achieved victory there starting from that far back.
– Ducati continues to increase its record of 25 consecutive podium finishes. Since the beginning of the season, its riders have been on the podium 31 times, the next with the most podiums is Aprilia, nine.
– Jorge Martín broke the track record with a time of 1:57.790. Of the 19 circuits that the category has visited at this point in the season, 14 have a record time set by Ducati.
– There were three different leaders in this race, but all from Ducati. This is the tenth grand prix this season in which only Ducati riders have done laps in the lead, after America, Spain, France, Italy, Holland, Austria, San Marino, Aragon and Japan.
– Ducati also achieved its 70th pole position in MotoGP on Saturday thanks to Jorge Martín, who got his fourth of the season. It is also the 39th consecutive start on the front row for Ducati, which has already achieved 15 poles and 40 front rows so far this season.
– Marc Márquez also started from the front row, as in the previous race, being the first time he has achieved two front rows since his injury in 2020.
– Fabio Quartararo returned to the podium for the first time since Austria, this being his worst streak without a podium (five consecutive races) in the last two seasons.
– Aleix Espargaró was contesting his 300th Grand Prix. Only five riders have reached this milestone: Tom Lüthi (318), Simone Corsi (319), Loris Capirossi (328), Andrea Dovizioso (346) and Valentino Rossi (432).
– Luca Marini retired for the first time since joining MotoGP last year.
