The Tax Agency alerts of a scam on your behalf

0

On more than one occasion we have talked about phishing campaigns orchestrated by cybercriminals from all over the world. Hackers pose as different companies and organizations to steal data and / or personal data of the victims. On this occasion, the Tax Agency has warned of a scam in which they send messages to victims via SMS and email to obtain their secret data .

What cybercriminals do is take advantage of the victims’ confidence in the truthfulness of the sender of the message, since they believe that it is the Tax Agency, to get their personal or banking data . To do this, in the SMS or in the email, a link is attached that leads to a fake website that looks very similar to the original or a file with a virus.

From the Tax Agency they warn not to attend to this type of messages since they are nothing more than an attempt to fraud by impersonating your identity. It is a very common type of practice , so it is important to follow a series of recommendations:

  • The first thing is not to open any message from an unknown user or that has not been previously requested. If you receive it, you simply have to delete it.
  • Of course, you never have to reply to these types of messages.
  • The most important thing is not to click on the attached link, much less download a file.

To all this we must add that the Tax Agency, or any other official body, never requests confidential taxpayer information by SMS or email , be it personal or financial: credit card number, account number …

All procedures are always carried out in person or through the official website, in which the padlock appears that informs that it is a secure website .
