After Nicholas Latifi crashed into the guards a few laps from the checkered flag, Michael Masi opted to bring the safety car on the track, although this period was full of controversy, because, initially, the lapped cars could not pass the leaders to let the two candidates for the title compete.

However, one lap from the end, Race Direction gave the green light for the cars to pass and Hamilton and Verstappen stayed fighting in the lap that closed the campaign. The one from Red Bull began to appear, it was even put in parallel with the one from Mercedes to show that it was going to go all out.

As expected, the newly crowned world champion crashed at Turn 5 of the Yas Marina circuit thanks in large part to the help of the soft tires he put on a few laps before activity resumed. When the Dutchman overtook the Briton, it was his turn to defend his title position, and he repeatedly changed trajectory down the next straight.

In the braking of turn 6, Hamilton tried to give it back, however, Verstappen maintained the lead until the modified banked turn 9, where they arrived in parallel, but the Mercedes, with quite worn wheels, could not with the energy drinks .

With only one sector to go, the Red Bull wall erupted with jubilation and they began to celebrate Max Verstappen’s first world title , a championship that not even the best film director could have written in a script.

Verstappen now only has to celebrate the victory he has achieved after a spectacular year in which he has had to row against all odds. An epic end to a season that has had everything, controversy, accidents, comebacks, penalties, and endless events that has made all fans enjoy Formula 1 like never before.
