The place chosen for its location was Coventry (United Kingdom) since it connects most of the country just four hours away, being in the heart of the United Kingdom.
What work will this Vertiport have?
It is the world’s first urban airport for ‘flying taxis’ and drones. It allows vertical takeoff and landing, as reported by the World Economic Forum (WEF). This location will serve as a model for more than 200 vertiports planned around the world over the next five years, according to Urban-Air Port , the UK-based developer of Air-One.
UK-based startup Urban-Air Port Ltd (UAP) is working to show that the infrastructure needed to make these urban air transport hubs a reality is not as complicated as it might seem.
“The opening of Air-One is a momentous moment: the starting signal for a new era of transportation, an era of congestion-free and emission-free travel between and within cities that will make people healthier, happier and more connected . than ever,” said Ricky Sandhu, founder and CEO of Urban-Air Port.
“ Air-One is only the first model in our infrastructure fleet and our order book is not only open but already growing. Interest is turning into recognition of the need for our technology and into demand,” Sandhu continues.
Where will there be more Vertiports?
Other vertical landing ports are planned to be built in the West Midlands and London, as well as in Los Angeles, Australia, South Korea, France, Germany, Scandinavia and Southeast Asia.
The vertical landing pad is powered by hydrogen fuel cells and designed to be completely autonomous as well as integrated with electric vehicles to offer a zero-emission urban public transport system. Therefore, it will have charging points for electric vehicles.
