This is what the eruption of the Tonga volcano looked like from space

The powerful eruption of an underwater volcano in Tonga has been so strong that satellites have managed to capture it from space, at the same time that it has been felt throughout the entire Pacific Ocean, the largest ocean in the world.

The submarine volcano Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha'apai, 65 kilometers north of Nuku'alofa, the capital of Tonga, has caused an eruption so thunderous that it has become the most powerful in the last 30 years.

Some of the satellites that orbit the Earth (the American satellite GOES-West and the Japanese Himawari-8) have captured this powerful underwater volcanic eruption from space. The images show the dramatic moment of the explosion of smoke and ash up to 20 kilometers high and the shock wave through the surrounding waters that reached a radius of 260 kilometers , according to NOAA :

The event has caused a tsunami in the capital of Tonga, Nuku'alofa, and a tsunami warning for all the islands of Tonga and, in general, throughout the Pacific, from the coast of the United States to Japan, in addition to possible threats of acid rain .

In Nuku'alofa, capital of the island of Tonga, the wave reached a height of 1.2 meters, according to the US-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. Even New Zealand, more than 2,000 kilometers from the site of the eruption, has also issued a tsunami warning.
