This week you can easily contemplate the planet Uranus

0

Thanks to the crescent Moon and Mars, which will be quite bright, we will be able to detect Uranus more easily this week. You just need to have a pair of binoculars or a small telescope on hand. Although of course, if you are lucky enough to find yourself in a region with really dark skies -something that is becoming increasingly scarce-, you may not need any instrument and can contemplate it with the naked eye.

From January 19 to 21, Mars and Uranus will be in conjunction, which means that their apparent position in the sky will be extremely close. The third largest planet in our solar system, Uranus, will be 1.75 degrees south of Mars which will be quite bright and visible on the Moon.

How to locate Uranus?

When it gets dark, locate the Moon. Right above it you will see Mars as a bright red body. Uranus will be just below, on the left.

Uranus is currently at a magnitude of +5.7 , on the visible side of the magnitude limit for human vision.

If you think it will be difficult for you to orient yourself with these directions, we recommend that you use a sky map application to make sure that you quickly locate Uranus (and that you are not looking at anything else, of course).

Lucky!
