The storm "Arwen" caused severe damage in Great Britain at the end of November. According to official information, a little more than 9,000 households were without electricity on Friday evening.

London – After severe storm damage, thousands of households in parts of northern England and Scotland are still without electricity for the second weekend in a row.

The head of the supervisory authority Ofgem announced an investigation into whether the energy companies were actually doing their best to restore the supply. Jonathan Brearley told BBC Radio 4 on Saturday that he was very concerned. "We have clear expectations of how quickly people will have to be reconnected to the power grid."

Military forces are also used in the clean-up work. In some affected areas, sub-zero temperatures were expected over the weekend. dpa
