The fate of a boy from a place in East Frisia who is seriously ill with cancer affects many people. Thousands of bikers respond to a call on social networks.
Rhauderfehn – More than 10,000 motorcyclists met on Saturday in Rhauderfehn, East Frisia, to please a boy suffering from cancer.
The exact number is difficult to estimate, it may have been up to 20,000 bikers, said a police spokeswoman. The child is a big motorcycle fan.
A call in social networks had a strong response, bikers from many regions of Germany came to the place in the district of Leer. Numerous onlookers stood by the route and applauded the column, which, led by the police, drove to the house of the seriously ill child. There has been a lot of positive feedback from the population about the action, said the spokeswoman.
The police set up various meeting points for the motorcyclists. From there, the officers led them past the family home. It took almost three hours for all drivers to complete the route once. The high number of participants caused traffic delays and traffic jams.
The police registered a minor accident and individual violations of the helmet requirement. “The majority behaved in an exemplary manner,” stated the spokeswoman.
