Through the skies: Volaris transports 2.8 million passengers, the highest traffic in its history

The Volaris airline transported 2.8 million passengers during July, which represented a growth of 40% compared to the same month of 2019, and which translated into the month with the highest traffic in the company’s history .

In a statement, the airline reported that its capacity – measured in available seat miles, or ASM – increased 28.8% compared to July 2021, while demand increased 21.9% in the same period. In addition, the company operated with an occupancy factor of 84.7%, a drop of 4.8 percentage points.

“We continue to be disciplined in adding capacity to meet passenger demand,” Enrique Beltranena, Volaris CEO and CEO , was quoted as saying in a statement. “The company continues to adapt its network to optimize growth in an environment of high fuel prices and reallocate capacity, as appropriate, to more profitable routes.”

By market, the domestic segment had a 22.9% increase in demand compared to July 2021, while the international segment rebounded by 19.6%.

In the annual accumulated from January to July, the demand increased by 32.2%, with an occupancy factor of 84.1%, 0.1 percentage points higher than in the same period of 2021.

Volaris comes from a second quarter with a 20% increase in its operating income , which totaled 691 million dollars, although with a net loss of 49 million dollars.

For this year, the company plans to reach operating income in a range of 2,800 to 3,000 million dollars , with an estimate of closing 2022 with a fleet of 115 aircraft.
