In films like “Verschollen” and “Sully” Tom Hanks is the focus. Now the successful Hollywood actor says that he would also like to have more colleagues next to him in front of the camera.

New York – Hollywood actor Tom Hanks (65) has had enough of lonely roles for the time being.

“I want my next character to be part of an ensemble in which 18 people sit in one room at the same time, we can all talk to each other and listen to each other,” said Hanks of the German press agency. The two-time Oscar winner celebrated success with films like “Verschollen” as a stranded victim of an airplane crash on a desert island and was at the center of dramas like “Sully” and “Philadelphia”.

“There’s something nice about that too, because you’re on your own and there are hardly any rules between you, the director and the script,” said Hanks. “But the discipline and the joy of working on a big movie with other people is really a better way to go through life. And it often makes it easier not to go crazy while shooting, ”he added in a press conference on the release of his new film“ Finch ”.

In the science fiction drama, Hanks plays an engineer who survives an ecological catastrophe in the near future and places a robot on the side of his loyal dog friend on a deserted planet. The melancholy film was shot before the corona pandemic and starts this Friday (November 5th) on the streaming provider Apple TV +. dpa
