Topaz Lake RV Park Review

0

Normally when I review an RV Park, I choose a park that we have stayed in. But today I’m going to tell you about Topaz Lake and the RV Parks in the area. Since we lived nearby, we didn’t actually stay in an RV park as guests. We kept our RV in a nearby park and spent many weekends fishing on the lake or dining and playing at Topaz Lodge RV Park and fishing at Topaz Lake County Park.

Topaz Lake Area RV Parks

Topaz Lodge and RV Park offers beautiful views of both Lake Topaz and the Sweetwater Mountains. They have propane and diesel, a general store and parts department, a cafe with a beautiful lake view, their Topaz Lodge Steak House, and a 24-hour casino. They frequently have contests, such as their annual tagged fish prize fishing derby, or show & shines, so check out their website often to see what they’re up to. They have 59 sites, 50 amps electric, water, sewer, WiFi, Cable TV, sites up to 80 feet long, pool, showers and toilets, and they are pet friendly.

Topaz Lake County Park, managed by the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department, is located on the northeast end of the lake. From US Highway 385, head east on Topaz Park Road, approximately two miles. There are only 15 connection sites with electricity, water and a discharge station, and another 40 dry camps and many undeveloped camps. There are showers and toilets in the camping area.

People often park their RVs on the beach at Topaz Lake Park on the north end (Nevada side) of the lake and embark there. The dependencies are few and far between. Rates vary based on dry camp, connecting site, reservation, daily use, boat launch, and there are various discount passes for seniors, veterans, county residents, etc. Please note that reservation fees must be prepaid and non-refundable. LLBean offers an informative overview of Topaz Lake County Park.

The Walker River Resort is a more exclusive park in a remote location, with great amenities. They are so nice that Walker River Resort is a popular place to book weddings and other events. If you like ATV riding, bird hunting or sport clays this is the place to come. Schedule a day trip to Wilson Canyon, a copper mining ghost town, Lyon County Museum, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite National Park, Mono Lake, Virginia City, Anaconda Copper Pit, or Lake Topaz (of course!)

Walker River Resort has 130 extraction sites, cabanas, store, laundry, internet connection, pool, spa, golf course, fly fishing and a lounge.

Walker River Resort (800) 446-2573 or (775) 465-2573. Walker River Resort is located about 23 miles east of Lake Topaz via Highway 208, then 2.5 miles north on Hudson Way in Smith Valley.

Meadowcliff Lodge & RV Resort is ten miles south on the California side, below Lake Topaz in Coleville. They offer 34 full docking sites, nine of which are push-pull up to 70 feet and the backs are 30 ‘x 45’ or 25 ‘x 40’. Ten are 30/20 amps and the rest are 50/30/20 amp sites. There are also 20 motel rooms (some with kitchens), a pool, restaurant, DirecTV, WiFi, a convenience store, gift shop, RV supplies, propane, horseshoes, playground, walking trails, and laundry facilities. NOTE: It appears that pets are not allowed anywhere on the hostel grounds, so call ahead if you have pets, even if they don’t leave your gear.

We stopped here many times for a snack on our travels through this beautiful area. They were all very friendly and helpful. I’d certainly consider staying here as long as they don’t care that we have a cat that never comes out (unless there’s a no-pet policy and then it’s everywhere at once. How do cats know? And why are cats so disgusting? ? that way?)

The Wellington Station Resort is 13 miles east of Lake Topaz on Highway 208. The Wellington Station Resort is on the banks of the West Walker River. Wellington Station is a bit different in that it is a mobile home park and an RV park. Many residents live full time in their trailers backed up to the river. They offer sewer, water and trash, full 30/50 amp hookups, high speed internet (additional monthly cost), daily, weekly and monthly rates, 2 cars / site, 1-2 OK pets, bathrooms, showers and laundry. .

Monthly renters can add a shed and do some landscaping. This is where we store our RV.

Near Lake Topacio

Topaz Lake is one of my favorite places for a number of reasons. First, it is absolutely beautiful. I love the Sierra Nevada mountains, and Lake Topaz is on the eastern slope where the pine forest meets the Nevada desert. The second reason is that despite its popularity, it is generally quiet, except for motor boats and jet skis. But generally they were far enough away not to disturb us.

You can launch your boats, jet skis, or other personal watercraft from various locations in Topaz Lake County Park and other areas around the lake. I have seen many jet skis launched from the beach.

Fish from shore for trophy-sized fish, including 4-8 pound trout. And whether you’re on a boat or on shore, don’t worry about crossing the California-Nevada border when you’re fishing. An any state fishing license is issued anywhere on the lake.

Bird watching is rewarding at Topaz Lake with a variety of small and large birds. This area is in the path of what is known as the Pacific Flyway, making it especially rewarding during migration season.

If you have four-wheel drive, there are dozens of back roads leading up into the mountains and around old deserted mines. It is not uncommon to see people “shopping” with their metal detectors anywhere around here.

A little further up on Highway 395 is Gardnerville, and a few miles further is Carson City. Reno is about 75 miles north of Lake Topaz. Lake Tahoe, about 65 miles northwest of the lake, and Mono Lake and Lee Vining (and the now-closed Bodie Mining Camp) are 60 miles south on Highway 395. There’s just no way you’ll run out of things to do. do, and Topaz Lake is a great central place to set up your RV home base.
