Toyota is ready for electrification in 2035

Carbon neutrality is quite a novel concept for society. Far from controversies about the existence, or not, of climate change, it seems that the drastic reduction of CO2 emissions has achieved the prominence that the planet deserves. During the Kenshiki Forum 2021 briefing , Toyota Motor Europe presented its business plan and the company’s vision for the challenges ahead. Electrification is the most remarkable, but not the only one. During this day, the Japanese presented different products and solutions, among which we met the bZ4X prototype and the production cars: Aygo X Cross, GR 86 and the Corolla Cross , which will also be the pioneer with the fifth generation of Toyota’s hybrid system . Nor will they neglect the leadership in fuel cell propulsion, the alternative that the Japanese defend as the key to decarbonizing the economy as a whole .

We all know Toyota’s reliability and expertise in hybridization, a path they pioneered with the launch of the first-generation Prius. It was the first production vehicle with a self-rechargeable battery capable of using its energy in order to reduce emissions and fuel consumption. The range has been completed, at the same time that new opportunities appeared such as plug-in hybrids or the premium firm Lexus . Beyond settling, the Japanese have set out to develop fully sustainable vehicles and even cities. Hydrogen is key on this path to neutrality.

As the signature explained to us during the session, Kenshiki means perspective and the meeting was based on that very concept. The acceleration in their electrification plan is palpable, ensuring that they are able to reduce 100% of CO2 emissions in their new Western European registered vehicles by 2035. With that promise on paper, they should focus on producing Zeo Emission. Affordable and practical vehicles for the democratization of this modality to improve your number of sales. This roadmap is exemplified by the launch of the bZ4X, an electric model that will be the first in a series of seven bZs. We tell you more about this strategy in the next gallery.
