The trucking and logistics company Grupo Traxión announced the acquisition of the company Medistik for 1,567 million pesos, with which it ventures into the segment of logistics solutions for medicines and medical accessories. With this, the company reactivates its inorganic growth strategy after some years without new acquisitions.

In a statement sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange, the company explained that Medistik has more than 36,000 square meters of specialized logistics warehouse in six warehouses (four in the State of Mexico, one in Monterrey, and one in Guadalajara) and 10 facilities cross-dock in key locations, making more than 190,000 deliveries per year for more than 50 AAA customers.

For this year, Medistik projects revenues of around 625 million pesos, and an Ebitda margin of approximately 35%.

“Traxión expects immediate synergies to be realized by incorporating Medistik into its platform, as well as operational, commercial and financial efficiencies that will increase the profitability of the operation,” the company said in the document. “The price of the transaction may change depending on the conditions at the closing of the transaction; however, no material changes are expected.”

With the acquisition of Medistik, the company incorporates the pharmaceutical vertical to its 4PL and last mile logistics services, in addition to those of consumption and electronic commerce.

“Medistik meets all our criteria for acquisition and integration of companies. It is a key part of our asset-light supply chain expansion strategy, showing several synergies and efficiencies that contribute to long-term value creation,” said Aby Lijtszain, Founder and CEO of Traxión, cited in the statement.

The acquisition adds to the series of transactions carried out in previous years, in which Traxión acquired companies such as the last-mile delivery company Redpack, and the cargo trucking company El Bisonte.
