Treasury reduces fiscal support for Premium gasoline for the first time in five months

0

For the first time in five months, the Ministry of Finance lowered the fiscal stimulus for the purchase of Premium gasoline. However, the fiscal support will remain in force during the week from August 6 to 12, both for Magna gasoline and diesel.

According to what was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, motorists will no longer have 100% of the subsidy for the payment of the Special Tax on Production and Services, when buying Premium gasoline. Well, for the week that begins this Saturday, the fiscal support will be only 92.23%.

The fiscal stimulus for the consumption of this fuel had been maintained at 100% of the IEPS since March 12, 2022. But after five months and after observing a reduction in the prices of oil and gasoline at the international level, the Secretariat The Treasury and Public Credit decided to lower this stimulus for the first time.

In the case of magna gasoline and diesel, there is still a fiscal stimulus of 100% of the IEPS, for which motorists will not pay this tax the following week.

In addition, with the exception of Premium gasoline, complementary support for the purchase of gasoline and diesel is maintained, although with amounts lower than those of the previous week:

Magna: 0.68 pesos

Premium: 0 pesos

Diesel: 2.15 pesos

During the week that ends this August 5, the complementary supports were 1.23 pesos for the Magna, 0.76 pesos for the Premium and $2.78 for diesel.

These stimuli are part of a package against inflation implemented by the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador and that have cost the treasury 574.624 million pesos so far this year.

According to estimates by the head of the Treasury, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, without this anti-inflation plan, the average salary of Mexicans would be 12% lower.
