Truck sales with positive figures in the first four months of 2021

Hino Motors Manufacturing Colombia produces 25 units a day at its plant located on the Siberia – Cota road. These vehicles are distributed in the national market and are exported to Ecuador, Argentina, Peru and Mexico.

Despite the difficulties experienced by the country in various areas of the country due to road blockades, in the first four months of the year the segment of trucks over 10.5 tons has grown to 7,258 units; while the one with the lowest tonnage accumulates 1,828 records.

The behavior of this market was reported by Andemos based on the new license plates from the Unique National Transit Registry (RUNT).

Spokesmen for the trucking industry acknowledge that amid the difficult economic situation generated by the pandemic that has affected the automotive industry, the positive figures in the cargo truck segment are comforting.

Companies like the distributor Hino Colombia recognize that there are many factors that have benefited the truck segment. The strengthening of the distribution schemes in the sectors of food, health and basic necessities; Companies that previously did not have their own or rented transportation system and that need to survive have contributed to the dynamism shown by this trucking market.

Hino maintains a presence in the domestic market placing a greater number of units in the cargo segment of less than 10.5 tons. According to figures from Andemos, it maintains a participation of 11.8% and with an upward trend thanks to the new models it offers.

Juan Fernando Muñoz, marketing and commercial manager of the Hino de Colombia distributor estimates that this could be a great year for the low tonnage truck sector. “The need to increase or renew the fleet that does not stop, projects that are resumed or started after a year of learning that occurred with the pandemic, will make it a great year for the sector.”
