Ukraine has achieved its first victory in the European Championship after beating North Macedonia 2-1 . Three points that are worth gold for Andriy Shevchenko’s pupils. After the defeat on the first day, this meeting seemed vital for both teams if they wanted to continue with options to be in the round of 16 of the competition. Goals from Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk made the game very expensive for the Ukrainians.

In a matter of five minutes, Shevchenko’s pupils were back on track. But they couldn’t be trusted. In their debut against the Netherlands they started losing 2-0 and ended up equalizing, although later Dumfries would sentence with the final 3-2. At the break they went with two goals ahead. At the restart, Macedonia reacted and began to embarrass Buschan. Ukraine brushed the third but Dimitrievski avoided it and shortly after, Macedonia, would close the gap from the penalty spot.

Alioski gave life to his team after scoring the rejection of the penalty . The Leeds player missed the penalty but the ball fell to his feet, and with the goalkeeper defeated he sent it to the bottom of Buschan’s goal. The play is a bit bizarre. It all starts with a Musliu kick to the crossbar, Pandev goes to the rebound and Karavayev hits him inside the area. The referee did not hesitate and pointed to the penalty spot.

The game was getting beautiful, Macedonia got into the game and Ukraine could get complicated. Near the end it would be Shevechenko’s pupils who would have the opportunity to score from 11 meters after a hand from Abramovski. They had the opportunity to put the point and end the game but Malinovskiy did not hit the mark , he threw it at half height, and the Macedonian goalkeeper of Rayo Vallecano guessed his intentions and stopped the launch . Fortunately, they did not have to regret that failure and Ukraine added the three points that place them third in the group C standings.
