The environmental organization Greenpeace is proposing short-term measures to reduce German oil consumption – and thus counteract dependence on Russian oil imports.
For the duration of the Ukraine conflict * Greenpeace calls for a temporary speed limit, as reported by dpa. There should be a limit of 100 km/h on motorways, 80 km/h on country roads and 30 km/h in cities. This could improve traffic flow, reduce consumption-intensive speed changes and increase the efficiency of internal combustion engines.

According to Greenpeace, the measures to reduce oil consumption should not only be taken in Germany, but throughout Europe.
“Every tank filling, every delivery of heating oil flushes money into Putin’s war chest,” said Greenpeace traffic expert Benjamin Stephan. “These intolerable financial aid for Putin’s attack on Ukraine could be significantly reduced tomorrow.”
