The Novavax vaccine has been available in Germany for several months. Now there is also a recommendation from the local authority for the alternative means in the USA.
Washington – In the future, adults in the USA can also be vaccinated against the corona virus with the vaccine from the manufacturer Novavax. The responsible US health authority CDC announced on Tuesday (local time) a corresponding recommendation for people over the age of 18.
“There are now four safe and effective Covid-19 vaccines that are protecting Americans from serious illness, hospitalization and death,” the White House said in a statement. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had previously approved the vaccine.
The vaccine, of which two doses are required, has been available in Germany since the end of February. It’s based on a more traditional process than Biontech/Pfizer’s and Moderna’s mRNA vaccines, so it’s seen as a possible alternative for people who are skeptical about it. There is also the preparation from the US manufacturer Johnson & Johnson, which is administered in a single dose. dpa
