Max Verstappen, who faced the Mexican Grand Prix with 12 points over Lewis Hamilton, has extended his lead over the British to 19 points . Accompanying the Dutchman on the podium were Hamilton and his teammate Sergio Pérez . Carlos Sainz , meanwhile, had to return the position to Leclerc by order of Ferrari and was sixth, while Fernando Alonso finished ninth.

Valtteri Bottas , Hamilton and Verstappen paired up for a spectacular outing. The one who took the cat to the water was the one who had left the furthest back and the one who had the most to lose, that is, Max Verstappen . From then on the Dutchman led from start to finish except when he made his first stop, which allowed Sergio Pérez to lead the Mexican Grand Prix, where he was a local driver.

Sainz and Leclerc return Ferrari to third position

After the start Valtteri Bottas spun, damaging Daniel Ricciado’s car, for which both had to pit. This gave Pierre Gasly a quiet race that was able to finish in fourth position. Also to the Ferraris , although the Italian team, seeing that Carlos Sainz had more rhythm than Leclerc, asked the Monegasque to let the Madrid pass on lap 58 . However, it was too late for him to hunt down Gasly. Not without controversy, Ferrari again asked Carlos Sainz to return Leclerc’s position before starting the last lap. Despite everything, the Italian team managed to regain third position in the Constructors’ World Championship to the detriment of McLaren, a team that they now lead by 13.5 points.

One of Mercedes , who maintains the lead, remains Red Bull . And it was thanks to Valtteri Bottas setting the fastest lap of the race on the last lap. Although being out of the Top-10 the Finn could not add the extra point, he has prevented Max Verstappen from adding it.

Regarding the third title at stake, Fernando Alonso has equaled Sebastian Vettel in overtaking, so that both will compete for the Overtake Award in the four races remaining in this World Cup.

This is how the Mexican GP ended
