Aleix Espargaró had to start the MotoGP race at the Japanese Grand Prix from the pit lane , after having to go into the pits to change bikes.

The rider from Granollers realized that his Aprilia was not working properly on the same warm-up lap, so while the rest of the riders took their place on the grid, Aleix had to go through his garage and change to his second bike , with which he started from the pit lane .

The one in Japan was a good opportunity for Aleix to cut points in the general classification. The Catalan started from sixth place on a grid in which Fabio Quartararo and Pecco Bagnaia, his direct rivals in the fight for the title of the premier class, started quite late. The Yamaha rider qualified in ninth position, while the Ducati rider finished last in Q2 on Saturday, in twelfth place.

Before the Japanese GP, Espargaró was seventeen points behind Quartararo . Fortunately, he was able to go out on the track, although at the back of the peloton, and make up positions in the race.

Espargaró continues to accumulate misfortunes in this campaign. In the last Grand Prix of the Netherlands he saw how Quartararo expelled him off the track (although he was able to come back to fourth place), and in Great Britain he went to the ground, injuring one of his ankles. In addition, in the past Misano tests, Aleix suffered a fracture in his hand, although he did not require an operation.
