The Goodwood Festival of Speed is the ideal occasion for reunions of motoring legends, as the estate of the Duke of Richmond, near the city of Chichester, in Sussex County, brings together dozens of legendary vehicles.

One of those present was the Williams FW14B with which the Grove team made history by winning the fifth of its nine constructors’ world titles and the fourth of its seven drivers’ championships.

As if time had not passed for him, Mansell gained confidence in the car as he stepped on the accelerator pedal, something that is demonstrated when he lowers his visor, a sign of the Formula 1 world champion’s hunger for speed. year 1992 .

With a carbon fiber chassis structure, a Renault V10 engine and controversial active suspension, the single-seater designed by another racing legend, Adrian Newey, the FW14B was the rival to beat in its day.

In just 11 races, at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Nigel Mansell had already become champion after scoring 92 points, while his closest rival and teammate, Riccardo Patrese , was 52 points behind. Just one appointment later, in Belgium, the Grove team confirmed their achievement of the constructors’ title, in what was a dream season that we can now relive thanks to these fantastic and emotional images.
