Video: Pérez and Red Bull's incredible journey from New York to Miami

0

Less than three weeks before the arrival of Formula 1 in Miami for the first time, Red Bull wanted to go ahead… and boy, did they go ahead.

In a spectacular production by the Milton Keynes team, as we have been able to enjoy many over the years, Sergio Pérez had to make an unusual trip behind the wheel of a Red Bull RB7 from the 2011 season (like the one they used Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel that year).

The video (which is obviously fiction) begins when Christian Horner , director of Red Bull, tells Pérez that he must be in Miami “in May”, since it is the month in which the race will take place (on the 8th), but Due to the noise of the sirens in New York, the Mexican understood that he had to be there that same day.

That “communication error” took the driver from Guadalajara on a speedy road trip of more than two thousand kilometers between two of the most important cities in the United States.

Obviously “Checo” couldn’t accomplish the task alone, so he enlisted the help of the Red Bull pit crew, as well as a helping hand from water skier Parks Bonifay and Miami Dophins player Byron James .

“It’s been great to take part in my first road trip with Red Bull. I remember Daniel (Ricciardo) driving over the Golden Gate Bridge and I never thought I’d get the chance to be a part of this,” said the Mexican.

“Miami is the perfect place for Formula 1. It’s a nice city and there is a good atmosphere. The track looks great. Austin is always like a home race for me and I think it will be no different in Miami.”

Despite the fact that Pérez arrived “early” in Miami, he still has to wait to be able to compete there… since Formula 1 will be presented this weekend at the Imola circuit to compete in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
