Fabio Quartararo crashed at Phillip Island, prematurely ending his run at the Australian Grand Prix.

The Gallic rider, who started from fifth position, fought in the first stages of the one-on-one test with his main rivals for the title: Pecco Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaró.

However, on the fourth lap he was about to crash and fell to the tail of the pack. In his effort to come back from behind, Quartararo made a second mistake and ended up in the gravel , having to retire.

The incident occurred 17 laps from the end , when El Diablo was already riding in points positions. The French entered ‘cold’ in the second corner, and could not avoid the fall.

The abandonment in Australia means the second consecutive zero for Quartararo , after a horrible race in Thailand, to which must be added several races (such as Japan) in which he finished outside the Top5.

The one from Yamaha no longer depends on himself , losing many points to Bagnaia in the penultimate round of the calendar. In fact, the Italian from Ducati could shelve the title next weekend , at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Thus, the final result of Australia is added to other tests such as Buriram or Assen, where it was not able to score points. He has two great prizes ahead of him, in which he will try to correct some mistakes that are starting to weigh too much.

Already past the halfway point of the race, Franco Morbidelli put the culmination of the Yamaha weekend with another crash, adding another double zero in a campaign to forget.
