Video: the first lap of an F1 to the Miami track with Pérez

Formula 1 will travel to the east coast of the United States to contest the first Miami Grand Prix in history. The highest category of motorsports announced in April of last season that the single-seaters would roll through the streets of the city of Florida, and it is already a reality.

In a video published on the Red Bull team’s social networks, all the fans were able to enjoy the first onboard lap of the Miami track, with Sergio Pérez at the controls of the RB7 from the 2011 season.

The American event will take place in May, after visiting Europe with the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, and before embarking on the tour of the Old Continent with the tests in Spain and Monaco.

Miami’s 5.3-kilometre track winds around Hard Rock Stadium, and average lap times are expected to approach 1:35, with average speeds of over 210 km/h skimming the walls.

The circuit boasts 19 corners , all of which have been painstakingly designed by UK firm Apex Circuit Design, and drivers are expected to have a number of overtaking opportunities and battles in parallel.

In the Red Bull video you can see that the work is still underway, since the protections and the stands are missing to welcome the thousands of fans from the North American country.

However, the recording allows us to have a first contact with a fast path that flows around a stage surrounded by palm trees and a sun that adorns the beaches of Miami.

The 2022 single-seaters occupy much more space than the one Checo Pérez rode with, but it seems that there will be enough width for the pilots to try maneuvers and enjoy a lively first race in this city, which will be on the Grand Circus calendar, at least a decade.
