The 2022 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix race promised strong emotions because the weather forecasts pointed to possible rain at the start of the test, where George Russell defended the first pole position of his career, although the real protagonist was Max Verstappen, who with an incredible performance, and a brilliant overtaking of Charles Leclerc, took the 28th victory of his life.

The appointment began with the Briton from Mercedes keeping the lead at the start after Carlos Sainz made a better start, but it was on lap 30 when the key moment arrived.

After the first round of stops, in which the Mercedes man managed to stay in the lead after mounting a new set of media, Charles Leclerc, third in discord in the fight for victory, carried out an overcut on his Ferrari teammate, allowing him to get closer to Russell.

The Monegasque was cutting at a good pace until sticking to the rear wing of the silver arrow, something that allowed him to open the DRS for a few laps until, with a spectacular movement around the outside of the first corner, he overtook the Mercedes.

Leclerc took advantage of his fresher tyres, in addition to the slipstream and the help of the mobile wing to, on the main straight, rip the stickers off a W13 that had lost some steam in the middle of the race. However, Max Verstappen made it to the front positions after making a quiet comeback from 10th, and managed to beat the leaders with a grand strategy .

Everything seemed to be going well for the Dutchman, but when he was in the virtual lead of the test, he made a mistake that led to a spin in the penultimate corner. Sergio Pérez, his teammate, who was just behind, slowed down so as not to disturb his attempt to recover the car, something he did, but it cost him to drop positions.

That didn’t stop him from coming back stronger than ever and passing both George Russell and Charles Leclerc again to take the lead after Carlos Sainz stopped and climb to the top of the podium after 70 laps .
