Video: the walls claim the first victim of the F1 Monaco GP

The first free practice sessions of the 2022 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix ended with some yellow flags and a red flag caused by Mick Schumacher standing at the entrance to the pitlane , but no single-seater went against the much-feared walls.

However, in the opening minutes of the second practice session, the Monegasque track claimed its first victim of the weekend. The protagonist was Daniel Ricciardo, who upon reaching the pool area lost control of his MCL36 and went straight into the guardrail.

The Australian entered the chicane at too much speed, and in his attempt to recover the car, on the counter-steering, his McLaren went straight into the protections and caused the red flag. The British team immediately radioed if Ricciardo was okay, and he answered in the affirmative, albeit with a pessimistic tone as he was aware that his mechanics would have to work very hard overnight to have his car ready for Saturday.

The driver’s life has been very complicated since he joined the Woking team, due to the fact that his teammate, Lando Norris , has beaten him almost every time, which has complicated his renewal with McLaren . The Australian is in the spotlight because he is not able to put his car in the position it should and score points on a regular basis.

Only his victory in Italy last season was an oasis in the desert, and only he can bring out the best in himself if he wishes to further extend his career with the papaya team. On Saturday he will have his day to compensate for the accident that will reduce his confidence so much, something vital in the Principality circuit where the single-seaters pass just a few centimeters from the walls.

With a good lap you will be able to qualify in a position that will help you to get some valuable points in Monaco.
