The visit to the Circuit of the Americas in Austin (COTA) was more than a headache for MotoGP riders in recent years, who saw its asphalt as a continuous danger due to the number of potholes it presented.
Formula 1 has not been immune to these problems, especially with the suspensions of the single-seaters subjected to significant impacts, and those responsible for the track promised intense work between December and January of this year before the United States Grand Prix of the two queen categories of motorsports and motorcycling.
“We already did some of the repairs last year before MotoGP, so I wouldn’t say we have everything to do,” COTA boss Bobby Epstein had explained.
Now, from the social networks of the American track they have revealed images and information of what the renovation has consisted of, and have issued a statement explaining what it has done.

“COTA hired consultants to review asphalt designs and diagnose portions of the track that need resurfacing.”
“Laser mapping and ground penetrating radar equipment and software were used to monitor the runway and identify the various repairs needed.”
“From there, COTA worked to resurface Turn 12 through 16 and build a concrete pad to reinforce the Turn 2 and Turn 10 areas.”
“In addition, the COTA worked with contractors to ensure the new asphalt and concrete foundations were level and flush, creating an ideal track for upcoming races and events.”
The key dates of the Austin circuit are April 10, with the MotoGP appointment (fourth round of the new course) before, as usual, Formula 1 visits it in the last part of the season, on October 23. .
