On Friday, the advance of an interview that Maverick Viñales has granted to the owner of the MotoGP rights in Spain, the DAZN platform, came to light.
In the advance cut, Viñales says: “I want to make the right decision, I don’t want to be wrong again”, a statement that spread like wildfire interpreting that he had made a mistake renewing with Yamaha.
At night, on his social networks, Viñales uploaded a video saying that people had anticipated events and that he was referring to mistakes in his decisions from the time of Moto3, when he left his team in Malaysia, or to go up to MotoGP after only one year in Moto2.
This Saturday afternoon they asked Maverick to clear up the mess a bit.
“More than anything I want to clarify that I was quite general in my statements, it is very difficult to do interviews, people always take it in the worst way, they always try to put me in conflict with my people and with my team. I just wanted to specify that in 2012 I made a mistake (Malaysia) and when I made the jump to MotoGP, maybe I would have had to wait a little longer, although I admit that signing for Suzuki was a success”, Viñales wanted to make clear.
They asked her, therefore, if she would renew with Yamaha if the opportunity arose.
“I’m perfect with Yamaha, the factory is trusting me a lot, we’ve changed the strategy with Silvano (Galbusera) and we’re going to try to take advantage of it”.
“I don’t rule out renewing, I’m fine with the team, and the bike is at a great level. I just have to improve”, insisted the man from Roses , who has a contract until the end of 2022.
Miller who took Márquez as a passenger in Q1, in Mugello the chosen one was Viñales and they asked him about following wheels and if that had to be sanctioned.
“We have stewards who are the ones who have to make the assessment and sanction, it is difficult to give an opinion as a driver. In Moto3 there are a lot of penalties, in MotoGP not so much, it’s up to the stewards”.
Finally, Viñales managed to qualify sixth and will start from the second row of the grid, and he was convinced of his chances.
“This weekend I am going out like a plane, I have done three records, I am excited, I hope to go out and arrive second or third to the first corner. The tires from lap 10 go down a lot, so they will have to be handled very gently. We have a great opportunity this weekend, I want to run this race”, warned the winner of the first race of the year.
