The airline Viva Aerobus plans to launch an initial public offering of shares this year, for which it is working with the firms Barclays, Goldman Sachs Group and JPMorgan Chase, according to a report by Bloomberg, which cites sources who asked not to be identified.

Representatives for the airline and financial institutions declined to comment. A JPMorgan spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Bloomberg.

Viva Aerobus, the third largest airline in the country, had already expressed its intention to enter the capital market to finance itself. In a placement of stock certificates on the Institutional Stock Exchange (BIVA) in February 2020, the company claimed to be working to launch a public offering, for which it was evaluating options within and outside the country.

"We are working on that, it is in our projections. There is a lot of work behind that we have to do, from internal issues and some external ones, but we have talked with BIVA. [We have also had meetings] outside of Mexico, with other underwriters. Yes it is. in our plans, "José Golffier, then the airline's chief financial officer, told the media.

Viva Aerobus has positioned itself as the third largest airline in the country after the cessation of Interjet operations. In May, the airline transported 1.34 million passengers, a monthly record for the company, which was also 35% higher air traffic than the same period in 2019.
