Volaris estimates to close the year with a flow of up to 150,000 passengers at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) by adding nine new routes between July and September, with which it will operate to 11 destinations.

The new routes will be to Acapulco, Guadalajara, Huatulco, La Paz, Mérida, Mexicali, Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Escondido and Los Cabos, which will be added to Cancún and Tijuana, with which it has been operating since the start of operations at the airport. in March of this year.

To do this, the airline will reduce its capacity at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) by 10% in August, and another 10% in September, where there are currently 40 aircraft in operation, and which will house 36 aircraft by September. explained Holger Blankenstein, Executive Vice President of Volaris.

"There is a market of 8 million people who are closer to the AIFA than to the AICM and Toluca, it is the size of the city of Guadalajara," said the manager at a press conference.

"We copied these models from three airports that exist in other parts of the world; in Mexico City we serve a market of 30 million inhabitants," he added.

Flights in AIFA are between 30% and 40% cheaper than in AICM and Toluca as they have an Airport Use Fee (TUA).
