A letter from the Easter Bunny – Deutsche Post makes it possible. Helpers have been answering children’s letters to Hanni Hase for 40 years. The number of letters has increased.

Ostereistedt – Letters to the Easter Bunny will be answered again this year in the village of Ostereistedt in Lower Saxony. The Easter Post branch was open from March 1st to April 15th, according to a spokesman for Deutsche Post.

Children can therefore write to Hanni Hase – his address is Am Waldrand 12 in 27404 Ostereistedt. “Painted, crafted or written – the Easter bunny Hanni Hase is happy about all Easter greetings and Easter wishes from children,” says the homepage. All letters received by April 9th could be answered before Easter Sunday, it said.

This year eleven volunteers are working to answer mail to Hanni Hase. You assume that the war in Ukraine is a topic in many letters. “The value of writing letters has a special meaning for children, especially in difficult times. We would like to make them a little happy with our reply letters,” said the head of the Easter Post branch, Doris Kröger.

The campaign has existed since 1982 – that was when the first children’s letters arrived in Ostereistedt, which were answered on a voluntary basis by postal workers in neighboring Zeven. Over the years, the number of letters and cards sent to the Easter bunnies has grown exponentially. According to the company, around 100,000 children wrote to the Easter Bunny last year – more than ever before. Personal meetings with Hanni Hase are not possible due to the corona pandemic. dpa
