Weather in Germany: Expert speaks of extreme weather – and warns of imminent danger

0

The weather in Germany was one-sided in February and remains so in March. A meteorologist speaks of boredom and issues a warning.

Munich – The weather in Germany is currently characterized by one-sidedness. As Merkur.de * knows, some meteorologists also write about a certain boredom that they have to deal with right now. But there are also clear dangers.

Weather in Germany: Spring is not only knocking but comes with up to 20 degrees

Dominik Jung, graduate meteorologist from the weather service Q.met , indicates to wetter.net that there will be “real extreme weather” in March 2022 in Germany. While February 2022 was clearly and almost continuously dominated by rain and thunderstorms, March will remain dry.

Some are happy about the weather in Germany*. Because spring is knocking on the door during the week of March 7th-13th and could really unfold in the week of March 14th-20th.

Supported by Hoch Noe over northern Europe, Hoch Martin will bring up to 11 hours of sunshine* on Thursday (March 10) and Friday (March 11). Temperatures of up to 17 degrees are possible locally – and the prospects are fantastic: “The dry weather won’t come to an end for the time being,” says Dominik Jung.

Weather in Germany: There is no rain in sight – it is also unclear when it will rain again

In the week from March 14th to 20th, up to 20 degrees are even possible locally. Rain is not in sight for now. And it is completely unclear, according to the meteorologist from the weather service Q.met , when there will be rain again. March could hardly be nicer.

How does the weather in Germany look like in detail? According to information from the German Weather Service (DWD) , temperatures in the south of the country will climb to around 13 degrees by the weekend (March 12th and 13th). A fresh breeze is blowing. Once the sun is gone, however, temperatures drop back down to around freezing.

The weather in eastern Germany is similarly sunny. For example, Brandenburg and Berlin have temperatures between 8 and 11 degrees. At night it cools down to 0 degrees. The situation is similar in the northern federal states of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg.

The west of the Federal Republic of Germany has the best weather. The Rhineland can look forward to temperatures of up to 17 degrees and lots of sunshine. So next weekend, many people will probably use the sunny hours to fire up the grill for the first time.

Weather in Germany: However, the sunny spring weather also has its disadvantages

The weather in Germany, which in contrast to Australia* brings with it more spring fever, also has its disadvantages. The so-called rain hole, as weather expert Dominik Jung puts it, also has its downsides. Some rivers, such as the Rhine, are already at low water.

A lack of rain could also have a negative impact on agriculture. As early as 2021, Germany was struggling with a so-called March full of drought. However, it rained sufficiently in the rest of the year. The problem: Plants don’t grow, growth is delayed – the result could be crop failures. With every day without precipitation, the danger of forest fires increases – according to the DWD , danger level 3 out of 5 has already been reached.

However, most people will be happy about the weather in Germany and about the beginning of spring – and it’s lasting for now. *Merkur.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
