In 2006 , the update of one of the best-selling English dictionaries in the United States, the Merrian-Webster Collegiate Dictionary , included the use of the word google as a verb for the first time. In addition, this term was chosen as "the word of the decade" in early 2010 by the American Dialect Society (ADS), an academic association founded in 1889 and dedicated to the study of English in the United States.
The equivalent of the verb to google in Spanish is "googlear" , a neologism, not yet accepted by the RAE, which means "search for something on the Internet using Google" . It is often used when we refer to searching for information about a person ('googling' your coworker, 'googling' your date tonight …).
