Russian astronaut Alexander Skvortsov, commander of the International Space Station (ISS), assures that the cosmos has an unmistakable smell . "Yes, the cosmos has its own smell (…), it cannot be explained, it is very specific," said Skvortsov, in response to one of the questions sent from Earth.
Skvortsov explained that "it is not pleasant, it is unusual and you cannot mistake it for any other smell." ? I thought that only metal smells like that, but after a departure from the teammates, the diving suits had that smell, "he explained.
"I don't know if there is a smell in the distant cosmos, but around the ISS it sure smells," he commented. The smell is comparable to that produced "when as a child you hit one granite stone against another."
