What is heliophobia?

0

Heliophobia is the irrational fear of sun exposure . Those affected suffer a significant deficit of vitamin D , an essential element to absorb the calcium necessary for normal bone formation. Hence, heliophobia is usually associated with osteopenia , that is, a decrease in bone density that increases the risk of suffering fractures. In addition, recent studies have shown that this vitamin is essential for the proper functioning of most tissues, especially blood vessels and the immune system. On the other hand, people with vitamin D deficiency are also more prone to colon, breast and prostate cancer .

According to experts, 10 to 15 minutes of exposure to the sun three times a week is enough to produce the body's requirements for this vitamin. Of course, it is necessary that during that time the sun illuminates at least the skin of the face, arms, back or legs without using sunscreen.
